MALDIVES - ERIYADU
Known for paradise islands with vast white sandy beaches, palm trees and blue water, popular for honeymooners and similar romantic getaways. This is all true, but the Maldives also offers a paradise below the surface with some of the best snorkeling and diving we have seen.
This was our second visit and we decided to stay at Eriyadu Island, a small island known for good snorkeling and diving in the North Male Atoll.
PRACTICAL
When to go: Dec–Apr, Dec–Feb is high season, we went in late March 2018.
Getting there: Take an international flight to Malé, resorts arrange transport from there.
Money: USD works fine, local currency can be useful in Malé.
Other: One needs to dress according to Islamic customs when visiting Malé and some of the islands with locals. (This does not apply to the vast majority of the tourist islands). Along with the usual import bans like narcotics, weapons and explosives, it is also illegal to bring things to the country that are in conflict with the muslim faith. For example alcohol, pork, porn and the bible.
